Privacy and Cookies Policy

This policy explains what personal information NaviTex collects, why we collect it and what your rights are. NaviTex is responsible for your personal information (the “data controller”). We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) under registration number ZC272034.

1. What we collect

When you book a repair, buy a replacement unit, create a trader account or contact us, we collect:

  • your name, email address and phone number
  • your billing and delivery address
  • your vehicle’s VIN and details of the fault
  • order notes and any messages you send us
  • your login details if you create a trader account

If you enter your email address at checkout but do not finish your order, we keep your email address, your first name and the items in your basket for up to 7 days, so we can send you one reminder.

To set up and check your warranty, we keep your warranty sticker code, your order number or eBay order number, and your email address or phone number. For eBay orders we also keep your eBay username and delivery postcode, which eBay gives us. If you ask us to activate an older warranty, we keep the details you send us. When you make a warranty claim, we also collect details of the fault and the address to send your unit back to.

Card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.

When you visit our website, basic technical information such as your IP address and browser type is recorded for security and to keep the website running.

2. How we use it

  • to process your order, carry out your repair and send your unit back
  • to send order emails, such as confirmations, payment requests and repair updates
  • to contact you about your order by phone, email or WhatsApp, including sending a video of your repaired unit if you give us your phone number
  • to register and check your warranty and to handle warranty claims
  • to keep business and tax records, as the law requires
  • to protect our website from spam and fraud
  • to send you one reminder email if you leave items in your basket without finishing your order
  • to ask you once for a review after your repair, by text or email

We only send messages about your orders, your basket and your repair. You can stop basket reminders and review requests at any time using the link in the message. We do not send marketing emails or newsletters, and we never sell your information.

3. Who we share it with

We only share what is needed, with:

  • Stripe, to take card payments
  • our hosting company, which runs our website and sends our emails
  • Cloudflare, which protects our contact form from spam
  • couriers such as Royal Mail, DHL, FedEx and UPS, to deliver your unit
  • WhatsApp, if we send you messages or videos about your repair
  • The SMS Works, which sends our text messages

We may also share information if the law requires us to.

4. Where it is stored

Our website is hosted in the European Union. Some of our service providers, such as Stripe and Cloudflare, may also handle data outside the UK, with the safeguards UK data protection law requires.

5. How long we keep it

We keep order records for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes. Warranty records are kept until your warranty has ended and any claim is finished. Trader accounts are kept until you ask us to close them. Messages sent through our contact form are kept only as long as we need them to reply to you. Basket details from an unfinished checkout are deleted after 7 days.

6. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of your personal information
  • correct anything that is wrong
  • delete your information, unless we have to keep it by law
  • stop or limit how we use it

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

7. Cookies

Cookies are small files saved on your device when you visit a website. We only use cookies our website needs to work:

  • WooCommerce: keeps items in your basket and keeps you logged in
  • Stripe: helps prevent fraud when you pay by card
  • Cloudflare: checks that our contact form is used by a real person
  • CookieYes: remembers your cookie choice

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings, but parts of our website, such as the basket and checkout, may then not work.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
